Waterproof military plastic storage cases

Mods, I know the rules.....if this breaks them, feel free to delete. I have no connection whatsoever to this person other than he is a friend.

For all you mid/south Fla. preppers. These are tough as nails, even Acetone wont harm them. I got mine, better get yours.

PS: These cases are heavy and shipping would be out of the question.

Waterproof Storage Containers - $35 (Stuart)

http://treasure.craigslist.org/for/1525392288.html

I have 8 waterproof storage containers for sale that measure 29" x 29"x 9 1/2". These cases are manufactured for the military by hardigg ( http://www.hardigg.com ) and are great for any type of dry storage. Each latched case has hinges on one side with a wire to prevent over extension, a pressure relief valve and a heavy duty rubber gasket seal. These cases would be great for ;

Tool storage
Ammo storage
Disaster preparedness items
Clothes
etc

The cases are $35 each and have pe-cut foam that can be removed. These are top grade cases and will serve you well, as they have our military. I have many other cases available of varying size and dimension - feel free to give a call (go to link at top)

This website should give an indication of the retail prices for these

The question concerning burial pertains to just how much loading they'll take before crushing or deforming to the point the seal is broken. I have my doubts.

They are made by Hardigg and are built to take A LOT of punishment. The tops may flex to some degree but the seals are thick and well seated. IMO - flexing wouldn't be a problem although to be extra cautious, one could place a piece of plywood over the top to keep the pressure evenly distributed

I would think so. I have um under the downspout right now to test the water proof ability. Then I will try to sink one.

QWAK,They had a fiew with built in WHEELS so they would be easier to drag around loaded. I was too slow pulling the triger so I missed out!:banghead:

I guess the government destroied what ever equipment had been shiped in them for so many to show up as surplus at this time.:thinkey::dontknow:

The larger one I got "30x30x20" I use for my 10 man artic tent and still had room for lots more stuff.:23_30_104:

BTW: Sportsmans Guide about doubles the weight for shiping! :censored:

At $35.00 -- even if it cost another $35.00 to ship -- they would be a great deal in my opinion!:23_30_104:

QWAK,The larger plastic boxes could be used to store GAS etc. but I think a metal box would better suit that purpose. :thinkey:

I have about a doxen of thease and store lots of dry stuff like TP in them out on my flat roof! :23_30_104:

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/c....aspx?a=529484

Thease are deep enough and with the devider removed should hold about 4 -- 5 Gal. jerry cans!

I also have 8 or 10 of the ones that are one level 1/2 as deep and are the right sixe to fit 3 on top of my Tahoe so I don't have to keep camping equipment inside the pasenger compartment!:36_1_11:

I also have two that are about half as deep as the single ones and all of them are the same top and bottom dementions so are easaly stackable!

When one gets searious about PREPING storage become a problem real fast and good strong storage boxes solve that problem!:36_1_11:

Re: Waterproof military plastic storage cases

Seems to be more than one type available;

http://treasure.craigslist.org/tls/1523241741.html

http://treasure.craigslist.org/tls/1525379494.html

I have 3 military surplus, waterproof storage containers. Each latched case measures 29" x 29" x 15" (outer dimensions), has a pressure relief valve, rubber gasket seal, hinges and a wire to prevent overextension.
These cases are used but still in great shape and are manufactured to top military specifications.
They are similar to pelican cases yet use metal hardigg ( http://www.hardigg.com) latches - very heavy duty.

Used may include but are not limited to ;

Tool storage - cases will prevent rust
Ammo storage
Outdoor storage of pool chemicals, and supplies
Disaster preparedness supplies
Clothes storage
etc

One of the disadvantages to living in Florida is the constant humidity and lack of a cellar for cool, dry storage. These cases can be stored outside yet still keep their contents dry all year round. I have many other sizes and shapes so if you're looking for something specific - feel free to give a call
These cases are $45.00 each

This website should give an indication of the retail prices for these
http://www.caseman.com/Hardg.html

Also sold on Sprtsmansguide.com

Thanks

Re: Waterproof military plastic storage cases

Bought and sold over eighty of them about a year ago. Aluminium or mold injected plastic as the ones shown above.

I kept a few of the best ones for myself. Sold most of them at two different gun shows for between $25 - $40 a piece. I still have a HUGE Anvil case. It's a six body one for sure. It's the size that you see roadies pushing onto and off of 18 wheelers following rock bands.

I LOVE these boxes. Some of them might leak, so test them, but the military leaves them outside. ALL the time. I keep mine outside, but I do put a piece of heavy cardboard over it to keep the moisture levels low.

You can't go wrong with military surplus in good shape.

What about:

Pelican Cases ?

Can any GIMers weigh in with reviews about Pelican Cases?

What exactly makes them so special?

Are some Pelican Cases better than others?

Where are the best places to order them from?

Pelican and Hardigg cases are water and air tight as well as crushproof - they're very tough cases !!

I bought some pelican cases from ebay - they're pretty good, my only complaint with them is the latching system. They use hard plastic latches that look like they could break if forced. I once had a seal leak (possible hinge problem) and all I had to do was pay for the postage to send it to Pelican - they replaced the case free of charge !!

The Hardigg cases use metal, draw down latches - these seem a bit more durable and sure fitting. Hardigg has apparently been bought by Pelican so I don't know if any manufacturer lifetime guarantees will be coming for Hardigg. http://www.hardigg.com/

Hope this helps

I think if you strutted the inside with a short piece or two of 2x2 it would prevent crushing.
